Kansas City

Public Art

Kansas City has had an embrace for the arts ever since 1970 with the identity of places like The Crossroads District. In-fact, it is mandatory for all municipal buildings in Kansas City, MO, to have at least 1% of their construction budget go to the creation of public art
Private art is also thriving thanks to groups like the Kansas City Art Institute and the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and is viewable throughout the city. It is from the creations that you see here that identity is brought to the neighborhoods and even individual buildings of Kansas City.
Kansas City provides ways for artists to have their art chosen for public views though https://www.callforentry.org/ if you are inspired to improve our urban fabric. If you are looking to work with the city, subscribe to KCMO's news letter services and sign up for the public art calls. https://www.kcmo.gov/talk-to-us/hear-from-us/subscribe-to-newsletters
